The study of Art History and Theory aims to acquire basic theoretical knowledge in the field of visual arts as well as the development of skills as for historical research, critical analysis and cultural mediation, art editing and journalism, curation and management of cultural projects. This specialization offers the possibility of a professional training in the field of historiography, artistic education, art research, cultural project management, cultural counseling, museology and museography, independent and institutional curatorship, collection, entrepreneurship and art trade, practice editorial and cultural journalism.
During bachelor studies students gain an encyclopedic, analytical and applicable perspective regarding understanding, communication and critique of visual arts.

This study program aims not only to broaden students’ knowledge, but also to develop the ability to interpret and mediate the artistic phenomenon. Through the specific examination of art history methods and the interpretation of different artistic practices, types of artistic theories and ways of communicating art, this specialization opens the horizon of a professional approach to visual arts. The historical knowledge analytically gained can be applied in editorial and curatorial practice workshops, in which students have the opportunity to put into practice their theoretical and creative skills. Art History and Theory study program provides conditions for both individual and collaborative study, encouraging research and experimentation with cultural practices.
Students have access to one of the best equipped and up-to-date art libraries in the country (with printed book fund and electronic resources) and can be involved in organizing art events (exhibitions, critical and creative research workshops, conferences) in faculty art gallery (Apart Gallery).
