„George Enescu” National University of the Arts is pleased to announce a new painting study program within FINE ARTS Department. This will be the first FAVD program with teaching in English and is dedicated, first of all, to worldwide foreign candidates but also to Romanian ones. The program offers both the traditional and contemporary theories and practices of painting.
The students are offered the opportunity to learn and deepen their understanding of the fundamental practices of drawing, colour theory, pictorial composition, which are combined with the theoretical platforms that define conceptual thinking from major periods in art history, since prehistory to the present day.

Based on a complex curriculum and traditional teaching methods specific to the Academy of Fine Arts in lasi (established in 1860), this program offers revised academic learning methods which are adapted to current requirements, methods and practices, such as: computer image processing, standard formats for conception and transposing a pictorial image (painting in tempera, oil or acrylic on canvas) combined with techniques and technologies from other visual art fields. Alongside the practical tuition will be an artistic management course to demonstrate to students how they can adapt to the current international art market.
The purpose of the course is to build up the student’s visual resources and the development of extensive cultural skills from a transdisciplinary perspective upon reality which allow graduates to cope with any field of activity that requires artistic creativity, but also to have a successful artistic career.
